winter-ice-snowman-themed-speech-activitiesThe winter storm of 2015 is in full swing, but it doesn’t mean that your fun winter activities must come to a halt! There are so many symbols and words associated with the winter season so finding themed speech activity ideas isn’t too difficult. We’ve done a little bit of the scraping (ice pun intended) for you and we’ve put together five fun and FREE speech activities that we think you and your students will enjoy! The following winter-themed speech activities are sure to bring warm smiles to your students in the midst of #theblizzardof2015:

 

  1. The Snowy Day book companion activity – This classic book tells the story of a young boy and his day out in the snow. Use it for making predictions, sequencing, retelling, comparing, and more.
  2.  Polar Express Literacy Pack – This freebie asks students to take sentence strips and put them in sequential order. A winter story with a happy ending!
  3. Where is the Snowman? – Teach basic prepositions with three FREE sets of cards that ask students to find a snowman, a pair of mittens, a penguin, oh my!
  4. Penguins! – Need we say more? Imagine the fun you can have by making your very own penguins! This activity helps with practicing following directions, vocabulary, and articulation.
  5. Snow and Snowmen Books – This post shares some of the best snow- and snowmen-themed books around, plus an awesome “What Can You Do in the Snow?” booklet that asks children to write about their own snowy adventures.
